Ethos: As an artist, she has a strong work ethic and wants her music to inspire her fans as she believes it’s the best way for her to reach out to them rather than through negative and toxic social media platforms. She strongly believes in the freedom of expression and wants to spread this message to her fans through her music.
Personality: She knows that her impassive expression and withdrawn attitude make her difficult to read and therefore uses music to express herself. Off-stage, she is quiet and has a calming, laid-back personality. Fans say that she is caring, especially of their well-being and tries to spread a positive message.
Backstory: Lydia Abbott, known by her stage name Luna, was born on 1st July 2000 in London, United Kingdom. Home-schooled from age 11, she became interested in dance and music and after encouragement from her parents, began attending singing lessons and writing short songs as an outlet for her boredom. Her quick vocal progress and intriguing song lyrics resulted in her being scouted by a small agency in 2017 and in 2018, she debuted under Columbia Records with her first EP, ‘Nostalgia’.
Platforms: Luna is not as active on social media as most artists, though occasionally uploads to keep her fans updated. Her active platforms are Twitter and Instagram.

In my focused audience research, I asked my two female participants a series of questions in order to gain an insight of their preferences. Question 1: Name an artist you like from your favourite genre. I asked my participants to name an artist that they liked from their favourite genre so that I could get an idea about the type of artists my target audience would want to see on a magazine front cover. One participant answered "Billie Eilish" whilst the other answered "Hey Violet". These artists both have unique styles and I plan to take elements from each when creating my own artist. Question 2: Which magazine do you prefer out of the three? I sent my participants three magazines and asked them to choose which one they preferred based on mise-en-scene (layout, model etc.). Brief Outline

For my brief, I’ve been tasked with conducting research and producing the front cover of an original music magazine along with a double page spread featuring the artist. During the prelim, I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop to construct my fashion magazine and I enjoyed using the program therefore I am excited to use it for this magazine. I’m also looking forward to developing my Photoshop skills, specifically when it comes to editing the main image and manipulating other aspects of the magazine. In my opinion, there is a greater diversity within music magazines as opposed to fashion magazines thus I think there will be a far more interesting variety of real products to use as prompts and inspiration when I am conducting my research. Exploration of Genre

My chosen genre is Contemporary R&B as I think there is more diversity within this genre as opposed to 'regular' R&B. Contemporary R&B is essentially a fusion of different different genres such as Pop, Soul, Hip-Hop and Electronica with R&B Artists featured: BTS, Taemin, Drake, Bryson Tiller, SZA, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, blackbear, Tory Lanez and Chase Atlantic These artists share both similarities and differences in the sound of their music, however, they generally fall under the category of (Contemporary) R&B. They are also artists that are popular with 14-18 year olds - my target audience for example. I think that people will find a few of these artists appealing due to their style of music and often interesting lyrics.
